Another excellent source of exactly how you can get stronger and ...

Another excellent source of exactly how you can get stronger and live a healthier life. This book is also inspirational in motivating you to achieve all you fitness goals whether you are a beginner or advanced from the calisthenic guru himself. I have a couple of books from this this author and at 55 yrs old I'm now able to do some very cool body weight exercises that made me much stronger (and I already workout with weights). Truly inspirational. This book is another great one from this author.

A good book

Nearly half is about what's in your head and what you put in your stomach. Something worth thinking about. Never think that you outgrow the basics. Nice lowest to highest versions of those basics when it comes to body weight exercise, complete with routines. Good balance, something usable by all. Very quotable too.

Good book if your looking for basic information exercises and Danny's view on nutrition, supplements and life...simple is better

First off I have to say overall the book is good but really depends on what you are looking for. For me I am new to bodyweight only training but not to fitness overall. I can do most basic moves and was really looking for a book to help give some structure to my workouts and progressive training to some of the harder moves.

The good:
Danny's approach to life is how I have been moving towards life in regards to fitness. Less is more and just keeping everything simple. Danny's give his point of view on supplements, nutrition, being a good person in an unedited and funny point of view. It is a refreshing change versus the macro and other diets I have tried in the past. It was awesome to pick up a book or workout program and not be pushed into their supplement line or some sort of "magic" pill to lose 10 pounds in 10 days. Danny is upfront by saying this is along process that is hard work.

The not really that bad....bad:
Really hard to say there was a glaring bad part in this book. But if you are looking for a lot of information on several different exercises, workout plans or programs, this book touches on all of it but does not provide a ton of information. Almost 90 pages into the book is when Danny starts with the workouts. The workouts are broken up into three parts based on the reader's level of fitness. These sections, although give the reader a decent idea of what kind of exercises you can do at each level (knee push-ups to classic push-ups to one-arm push-ups) and give a few hints of progressive exercises it really does not give a great deal of information. The chapters just jump from classic push-ups in one chapter to one-arm push ups in another for example. Not that it is incorrect but I have seen other publications give nearly 5 or 6 exercises between the two to slowly build up to the one-arm push-ups. Also at the end of each chapter I was hoping for a few more samples of workouts to do but the book only provides three workouts per level. I was just hoping for more.

The kinda annoying part:
Once again not bad but annoying (maybe just to me) part of the book is the over use of pictures and ads. First I am a very visual person so most of the time I enjoy pictures that demonstrate an exercise, this book has pictures of Danny and his brother on nearly every page. This would not be horrible if not most of them are just large pictures of Danny doing something goofy or dressed up like a doctor, the terminator or something like that. Again I like Danny and his brother a lot but for $40 this book could have had a lot more information in it if they removed even half the pictures.

Going back to the ads. I appreciate Danny not pushing a supplement line or anything like that but his other books are plugged in this book often. The last 26 pages of this book is dedicated to advertising the other books in the Dragon Door line up. I know they make money through sales but it was a little of an overkill for me. The good part is the ads in the back go into detail the contents of the other books. Hoping I can read that and find the book I was looking for in the first place.
