Good review for kids and adults alike!

Having a grandchild who could do better at algebra, I decided to get this book. It needs to be noted that this book is for children in grades 6-8 and they recommend using this book during the summer months so that they do not forget everything they learned in the school year. I am using it as a tutoring aid for when I watch the grandkids.
The book is 124 pages and includes 9 chapters (divided into a pre test, 4-14 lessons and a post test). a mid test covering chapters 1-5, a final test covering all 9 chapters, a reference chart (including number properties and formulas), a table of squares and square roots, a scoring record for all the tests, and an answer key for the tests.
The 9 chapters cover: 1. Algebra Basics, 2. Integers and Equations, 3. Factors and Fractions, 4. Rational and Irrational Numbers, 5. Proportion, Percent, and Interest, 6. Expressions and Equations, 7. Equations and Inequalities, 8. Functions and Graphing, and 9. Systems of Equations.
This book walks you through everything using definitions and steps and examples of problems. It is easy to read and will definitely challenge the user. I would recommend this workbook as a refresher or a tutoring aid for your child.

Highly Recommended

I may be a bit unusual in that I got this book to help me study for the GREs. The GREs after all include basic algebra, integers, equations, graphing, factors, fractions, percent, interest, equalities and inequalities, as well as systems of equations—basically what this book is about. I found this a good supplement to my normal GRE practice guide because this book walks you through these topics using easy-to-understand definitions and examples. I can definitely see that it was written for children in mind but this adult definitely appreciated the simple, no-nonsense explanations and the intuitive layout of each chapter. I especially liked that each chapter begins with a “Check What You Know” section because that way, if I stumbled on something I knew to go back and look at that topic again.
All in all, I very much recommend this book to children and grown-up children alike.

Concise and clear

I don’t know that I have ever seen such a clear book on algebra. This book is systematic and clear from the first page until the last. It goes through the sets of skills people will need to learn to get to algebra in high school and college.
This book shows you how to do things and then asks for practice. Every lesson is concise and understandable.
My teenager is missing algebra because of the quality of his teacher in high school. It is just an absolute gap. It was offensive to me that the school district seemed to just leave her in place and that I didn’t know that the gap was growing. (Middle school teacher also had terrible issues.) I wanted to go back to the beginning and start over with him. This will help.
